To help individuals, couples and families cope with issues like depression, suicidal thoughts, anger management, Joni Gilbertson is a qualified clinical professional counselor who is certified by the Board of Telemental Health Providers as a Telemental Health Provider. Currently, she is licensed as a mental health practitioner in both Illinois and Florida, where she is currently living. More than twenty trainings in telehealth have been completed by Joni Gilbertson, who has also written and edited sixteen or more online courses on telemental health. Clinical telemental health, mental health first-aid, and motivational interviewing are among the certifications she has. She is also trained and accredited in a variety of different approaches that help clients become more conscious of their own experiences with domestic abuse. The use of video conferencing and other technology allows her to work with a wide range of people from all walks of life. Using video sessions for programs like domestic violence counseling and anger management, she created one of the first court-ordered telehealth programs.

Joni Gilbertson is a recently departed college professor who taught seventeen seminars on mental health and legal concerns at the Sociology Department. Due to her energetic and engaging teaching approach, she was recently nominated and awarded an award for Teachers Who Make a Difference.
